How to save a few hundred thousand bucks
Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 05/09/2009 - 12:23
After hearing so much about the Whitehouse's "Glamor Shot" of our Air Force One flying over the air space of Ground Zero at just over a thousand feet, many have screamed about the waste of money. The money wasted is a shame, but it is a mere pittance in comparison to the absurd wasting of our money by the new administration. Hardly detectable, yet another slap in the face.
After hearing Pres. Obama state that he was unaware of the plans for the flight, I had one thought. That was; What is worse, he did know and is lying, or he really didn't know? My answer is, please tell me he's lying.
I'm keeping this one light though. This morning I thought to myself, what could I pull off by limiting myself to five minutes with Google and no more than 20 minutes in PhotoShop? There, of course has been, many of people trying this out...some serious and some silly. Some of the joke ones are a riot. Definitely, some of the serious ones are fantastic, some people are quite skilled at PhotoShop. I'm not one of them, but I do find it fun. So below is what I came up with in less time then it took me to write this quick article...which as you can tell, wasn't much time at all...
Given another 20 minutes in Google to select better images with which to work, I'm certain I could have done much better. By the way; One picture...I imagine they took a few "rolls" of film...errr...Gigs of digital images. Where are the rest? I want a larger version so I can make a wallpaper for my work PC.
Thomas Paine Speaks To Us!
Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 03/21/2009 - 09:43Thomas Paine was a very influential person at the time of our American Revolution. He was the author of a pamphlet, Common Sense. I placed the Google digitised version HERE for download.
A new Thomas Paine has emerged...well lets call him Thomas Paine, but he has a real name and he is a true modern American Patriot. He's got a real name, it's Bob Basso. Please take a few minutes and check out his YOUTUBE videos. He hits the nail right on the head.

Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 02/14/2009 - 10:21A little math before we start...
If you spent one million dollars each day, from the time of Jesus' birth till today, you would not yet hit a TRILLION dollars.
Let's do the math together, shall we?
2,009
x 365
733,285
1,000,000
x 733,285
733,285,000,000
That's just an attempt to help you see how much money we are talking about here. It's an absurd amount. More than that are the amounts they are not talking about. That 790 Billion will cost us approximately 3.2 TRILLION after financing and funding. We do not have this money in a vault somewhere. We as a nation have to either print Vapor-Money or borrow it.
That's just the stimulus package. We have yet to hear the details about the bank bail-out. That should be around three times the size. I can't wait to hear the Tax Cheating Treasury Secretary, Tim Geitner, explain this.
But what's really pissing me off today is the fact that these bastards in the legislative branch are ramrodding this "PORKULOUS PACKAGE" through without a moment of consideration. They, themselves haven't even read the damned thing... Boehner Floor Speech
What do you think is hiding in this midnight bill from Speaker Bella Polosi..."I want to suck your wallet"? How about Nationalized Healthcare? Please read the great article from Betsy McCaughey - Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan! I bet you didn't know that was in there!
Need More? Well the Federal Government has their share of spending...
$5.5 billion for making federal buildings "green" (including $448 million for the Department of Homeland Security's headquarters)
$198 million to design and furnish the DHS headquarters
$200 million for workplace safety in Department of Agriculture facilities
$75 million for the Smithsonian Institution
$300 million more for hybrid and electric cars for federal employees
$180 million for construction of Bureau of Land Management facilities
$500 million for wildland fire management
$110 million for construction for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
$522 million for construction for the Bureau of Indian Affairs
$412 million for Centers for Disease Control headquarters
$500 million earmark for National Institutes of Health facilities in Bethesda, Maryland
$100 million for constructing U.S. Marshall's office buildings
$300 million for constructing Federal Bureau of Investigation office buildings
$800 million for constructing Federal Prison System buildings and facilities
$307 million for constructing National Institute for Standards and Technology office buildings
$1 billion for administrative costs and construction of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration office buildings
Those are just few samples, there's much more in there. Now don't get me wrong; some of that sounds like a good idea. However, half of this spending won't begin till 2010. So, that's going to help us how? It had to be passed immediately without delay? How much of this will actually help "stimulate the economy"? Most of this stuff is Viagra® for Liberal Democrat pet projects and after this, they'll have to be calling their doctors after 4 hours!
GIVE ME A BREAK!
Businessweek has a pretty decent breakdown here. Keep in mind while reading that this stuff is supposed to stop the bleeding in our economy and create real jobs for the now and the future.
Remember, they are there!

Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 12/06/2008 - 11:21Sixty years before we had cowards taking over airplanes to kill Innocent people trying to get home, to vacation, to work, just working in their offices on an otherwise beautiful day, there was the Day That Will Live in Infamy; Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. I was looking over one of the sites I frequent and came across this vintage film.

Pearl Jam Misheard Lyrics
Submitted by badmatty on Fri, 11/28/2008 - 17:59I know I'm late to this one, But I had to mention it. My good buddy Bruce showed me this after our Thanksgiving meal. I guess there are bunch of them made by different people. I'm just going to post a couple...you can search out the rest if it intrigues you. My belly hurt after watching. I like Pearl Jam a lot, but if anyone tells you that Eddie Vedder is a good singer, then they are smoking more grass than he is!
It starts with Black...

Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 11/08/2008 - 09:47It's been a while since I've taken the time to post. I just wanted to share a new bumper sticker that was sent to me. It sums up quickly what I think of our new socialist president-elect. I know, that whole Marxist-Socialist thing was just a smear. You don't have to look too hard to see and hear it for yourself. He's got some interesting ideas about which direction our nation should head..

Vista Internet Explorer Desktop Icon
Submitted by badmatty on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 12:16Add Internet Explorer to the Vista Desktop
For some reason known only to the Windows Vista development team, there is no easy option to add the Windows Explorer icon to the Vista Desktop. You can add Computer, Recycle Bin, and the Control Panel --- perhaps someone can explain that to us. In the meantime, if you want to add Internet Explorer you can do it with a Registry hack. Before editing the Windows Registry it is always advisable to make a backup of the Registry file. If you have never edited the registry and do not understand any of the steps here, please do not continue.
1. Click the Start button
2. Open the Run dialog box (or type regedit in to the search box on the Start Menu)
3. Type in regedit and press Enter
4. Navigate to the following registry key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel
5. Create a new DWORD 32-bit by right clicking in the key area (See Figure K)
6. Copy this as the key name including the brackets:
{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}
7. Close regedit
8. Right click on the Desktop and click the Refresh menu entry --- Internet Explorer should now appear.

Big Butts Wedding
Submitted by badmatty on Fri, 04/25/2008 - 16:16I have to give thanks to a co-worker, Jordan for this link. After viewing this on an iPhone, I had to come home to see it for real. These white folk sure got some moves. My guess is this was practiced more than once.

Bandwidth thieves and Wigflip
Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 03/22/2008 - 15:05Wigflip has some great little animated GIF tools. You can make marquees and other neat little GIF files.
Today I had a need for the SignBot that they have. You see there is a guy who either doesn't know anything about web design and therefore is ignorant to the fact that he is stealing or knows that he is stealing and doesn't care. He must have liked my Drudge Report logo I made and host because when I was checking my records of my site today, I noticed that not all was legit. This person was leaching my image and bandwidth.
I have had this happen in the past. This time I was feeling a little mischievous. At first I was going to swap out the image with something very obscene. I thought better of that...I mean the guy could go and show his work off to his grandmother or something. Instead, I opted for something just as fun, but a little more subtle.
I hope that the other webmasters he is stealing from are as nice as I.
WebWeaver has a nice explanation of hotlinking and leaching.

Lenovo X300
Submitted by badmatty on Fri, 03/21/2008 - 11:42I just got a nice new laptop to use for the next two months. It's a loaner/tester from Lenovo. For anyone who doesn't know, Lenovo is the company that bought IBM and they use that name for most of their non-server products.
This new laptop is the beans. Super light at about 3 pounds and yet still has every bit of ability and is plenty fast running Vista Business. It's the best laptop I've had as far as the way I use them, which is pretty much marathon usage. No gaming but it's on 24/7 and won't likely be rebooted for weeks or more.
Below is a video I found of someone doing a nice brief demo. Here is the link to the full review. Lenovo x300

See Mrs. Puff on Tuesday
Submitted by badmatty on Sat, 03/01/2008 - 13:48So I'm watching Spongebob Squarepants this afternoon. I love that show...there are so many hidden jokes on there. Downright silly, I tell you. I nearly spit out my pizza when I thought I heard Spongebob say to Mrs. Puff, his driver's ed teacher, "Well, see you next Tuesday!"
My twisted mind went instantly to the famous acronym. So I checked youtube and got my answer instantly. That is some funny stuff right there.
